Ten minutes after arriving home my son arrived and said there was a dead Magpie on the road outside our house. Looks like it was hit by a car and obviously in the previous ten minutes.

Blue Damselfly on flax (Harakeke) leaf.

Used a 70-200mm lens with two extension tubes.
A print of this image was awarded an Honours Ribbon at the 2009 Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) National Competition/Exhibition. TV One News featured this image in the background to the interviews about the National Convention.
It was one of 30 prints touring NZ for nearly two years (2009 - 2010) in the PSNZ National Bank Touring Exhibition.
It was one of the ten prints in the set that gained my Licentiate (LPSNZ) with PSNZ in 2009.

It was also selected (as a digital file) to represent New Zealand in the 2009 Trans-Tasman competition.
In 2010 it was selected (as a digital image) to represent NZ in the Four Nations competition between Australia, Canada, South Africa and NZ.

I am certain that if I had entered this image in the previous year's NATEX (PSNZ National Competition) it would have received a medal as (IMHO) an inferior damselfly pic got a bronze medal that year.
