English Electric DG 772 (A1A-A1A) leads a Mitsubishi DJ (Bo-Bo-Bo) on a special excursion to Kaikoura and return as part of the Railways150 celebrations. Both locos have long been retired from NZGR/NZRail/TranzRail/Kiwi Rail operations.
They are crossing a dirty and high Waimakariri River just north of Christchurch on the first leg of their trip.

Dg760, later DG2111 in the 1980 TMS renumbering was the first to receive the new cab, and here it is at Hornby on 1st September 1978, as part of the now suburbs centennial (formed on 02/09/1878).
Dg760, an English Electric bull nose loco, entered service in 1956, and here 22 years later has a new cab. Not all were converted.
Taken on Ektachrome film with an Asahi Pentax Spotmatic II and scanned with an Epson V700 scanner.
