My friend Brendon and his wife Val have just shifted into their brand new house, so myself and two friends headed there on Friday night to have a chat and discuss our hobby (model railroads). I took along my UP 1983 (WP heritage paint scheme), to see if I could get to hear it (all my other model railroad stuff is stored in a container due to losing my 8 year old house (earthquake land damage).
Brendon models N scale while Val owns two HO scale KCS units (4032 was further to the right). Brendon got out some snap track and a power supply, but the total length of run was only just over the length of the three locos. They are all Athearn Genesis SD70ACe models with DCC and sound. It was great to hear all three locos start up and then go into idle. even if their run was rather restricted.
Can't wait to see these running around a railroad! Maybe a trip to Wellington to see Vival is in order!!

My HO scale Tsunami sound equipped Digital command control (DCC) Athearn Genesis Union Pacific SD70ACe in Western Pacific Railroad heritage colours. It is in front of my computer screen showing a shot of the prototype taken in the Chicago area by railfan/photographer eyepilot13.
It hasn't been on a track yet (and I have had it several months) as my previous layout was demolished due to earthquake land damage.

The Christchurch Free-Mo group had an operating day, setting up in part of a church complex in Aranui. I took along my only locomotive not in storage, a Union Pacific heritage painted SD70ACe in the Western Pacific scheme, numbered UP 1983. It was sitting here in the yard with the engine just idling away. It has a Tsunami sound unit and it sounds great!

On my under construction Freemo module. Just laid the cork roadbed down then some code 83 track and placed one of my Athearn Genisis F45 locos on it. Can't wait to get the track properly wired up so I can run the Tsunami sound equipped loco a few feet!
Scenario is that this is a main line while the bit crossing is an old disused line from another railroad. The crossing will have been removed and new ballast put in place, but the old line (either side) will be rusted and overgrown.
