US Sugar 4-6-2 148 leads a short passenger excursion out f Clewiston, Florida. She was built in April 1920 by American Locomotive Company (ALCO) for Florifa East Coast Railway. She hauled passengers and freight trains on the FEC's Overseas Railroad to Key West, Florida until the line was destroyed in 1935. The locomotive was then sold in 1952 to US Sugar Corporation (USSC) to haul sugarcane trains in and around Clewiston, Florida.

US Sugar 4-6-2 148 is on an excursion train leaving Lake Placid, Florida on an excursion leading the train back to Clewiston. She was built in April 1920 by American Locomotive Company (ALCO) for Florifa East Coast Railway. She hauled passengers and freight trains on the FEC's Overseas Railroad to Key West, Florida until the line was destroyed in 1935. The locomotive was then sold in 1952 to US Sugar Corporation (USSC) to haul sugarcane trains in and around Clewiston, Florida.

U.S. Sugar Corporation is a privately owned agricultural business based in Clewiston, Florida. The company farms over 230,000 acres of land in Hendry, Glades, Martin, and Palm Beach counties. It is the largest producer of sugarcane in the United States by volume, producing over 700,000 tons per year. The company is also a large producer of refined sugar, sweet corn and oranges. The company employs as many as 2500 workers making it one of Florida's largest employers.

U.S. Sugar is the only sugar company in the continental U.S. To transport sugar cane by rail known as the U.S. Sugar Railroad. The railroad is used primarily to transport the raw sugar cane from the fields to the processing plant at Clewiston.

U.S. Sugar owns about 120 miles of its own track and also operates the 171 mile long South Central Florida Railroad. Its trains operate from Sebring to Fort Pierce via Clewiston around the southern perimeter of Lake Okeechobee. It serves customers at 26 locations.
