I'm very excited about this image, not only because I'm happy with how it turned out, but because it marks the first in a collaboration series with the insanely awesome Shane Black. I've been a huge fan of Shane's work for a while and a few weeks ago I contacted him to see if he'd be interested in working together on a project.
We tossed around some ideas and decided to do a collaboration series based around "opposites". For each image we each represent one side of a set of opposites, for this one, "Big vs Small", I'm representing "Big". You can see Shane's AWESOME "small" shot Here
Can't wait to see the rest of this collaboration unfold!

This is the second in a collaboration series with one of my favourite photographers and friends, Shane Black! We're doing a series of opposites and this week the theme was "Open/Closed". I was given "Closed" and it was a tough theme for me to settle on.
I just couldn't get my brain to commit to one idea and finally today during one of the classes I was in, I asked some students what came to their minds when they thought of "closed" and one of the kids started talking about a video game where you have to draw a certain key to open a door to the next level and I thought it was a neat idea!

I'm happy to present another addition to my ongoing collaboration with the always amazing Shane Black We are doing a series of "opposite" photos and this week the theme was Rise vs Fall. Shane was given Rise, I was given fall.
I think this kind of feels like the inside of my brain at times, I tend to pile everything up so high that eventually it starts to teeter and then fall down, leaving me feeling a bit scattered as I try to put it all back together.....

This is my half of my collaboration with the amazingly talented Shane Black. We're doing an ongoing series of "opposites" and this theme was Horizontal vs Vertical. He was given horizontal and I, vertical! I was really stuck with how to portray the word Vertical, I thought of every example I could and nothing really jumped out at me, then yesterday at work I saw this poster of a mountain climber and the quote above and it seemed perfect!
This post is perfect timing because in exactly one week I'll be meeting up with Shane and other amazing photographers for an exciting and sure to be epic Flickr meetup in Indiana, I can't wait to collaborate in person with so many talented people!

The newest image in my opposites collaboration series with one of my best friends and biggest inspirations, Shane Black. We picked Grow/Shrink and clearly, I'm representing Grow :) Being able to finally meet Shane and actually get work on collaboration photos together was so amazing and I cannot wait until we can work together again (that is if he forives me for being such an annoyance....haha )
I'm SO excited to be posting this photo as it represents so much to me! Today is my birthday and the theme of "growth" certainly applies to me today. I always try to look at my birthday like New Years, a time to reflect on the last year and try to look ahead to the next and plan out my goals and what I want to achieve in the following 12 months. When I think back to this time last year and all the amazing things that have happened and all the amazing people I've met it's just so incredible and I can't wait to see what the next year in my life is like!
Thank you shane for trudging through the corn fields first thing in the morning with me :)
