El Grand Palais es uno de los monumentos parisinos más emblemáticos. Fue construido para la Exposición Universal de 1900, y su elemento arquitectural más característico es su inmensa cúpula acristalada coronada por el pabellón francés. Obra maestra arquitectural que combina piedra, acero y vidrio, fue catalogado como monumento histórico en noviembre del año 2000. El Grand Palais se divide en 3 espacios diferentes: La Nef, las Galeries Nationales y el Palais de la Découverte. La Nef (Nave), de 240 metros de largo, recibe grandes manifestaciones nacionales e internacionales de diferentes tipos (equitación, arte contemporáneo, parques de atracciones…). Las Galeries nationales organizan grandes exposiciones sobre artistas que han marcado la historia del arte (Picasso, Hopper, Renoir…). En cuanto al palais de la Découverte, es un museo y centro cultural dedicado a las ciencias.
The Grand Palais is one of the most emblematic Parisian monuments. It was built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900, and its most characteristic architectural element is its immense glass dome crowned by the French pavilion. Architectural masterpiece that combines stone, steel and glass, was listed as a historical monument in November 2000. The Grand Palais is divided into 3 different spaces: La Nef, the Galeries Nationales and the Palais de la Découverte. The Nef (Nave), 240 meters long, receives large national and international events of different types (horse riding, contemporary art, amusement parks ...). The National Galeries organize great exhibitions about artists who have marked the history of art (Picasso, Hopper, Renoir ...). As for the Palais de la Découverte, it is a museum and cultural center dedicated to science.
