There was not much to really photograph between Georgia and Colorado, and needing to be in Idaho Springs,CO. as soon as I could, I pushed onward for the nest 3 days.

After getting settled in at the motel in Idaho Springs I went out to see what I could find before dark. Now this area in general is gold and silver mining and the hills as you can see is littered with holes in the side of the mountains there. This shot here represent about a dozen such mining openings...some very old and some a bit more recent by the amount of sand pushed out of the mines. I'm not sure just how active any of these mines here or elsewhere that may be still producing, but the place is littered with remenents of what this area is noted for.

The size of the town of Idaho Springs with all of the tiny houses clustered tightly together, although spruced up and painted, indicates to me that this was at one time a very active mining community.

Both of these creeks originate in the Mount Evans Wilderness. The West branch begins in the area of "Hell Hole" on the west side of Gray Wolf Mountain (13,602 ft). The south branch begins just north of this mountain.
I have not processed it or reviewed it as yet, but this image is the first video that I have made with the Canon 5D Mark II.

This originally processed as a 2 image HDR processed in Dynamic Photo HDR. I reworked the image again using some more refined skills developed over the years.

This was made one morning on my way up the 13-180 degree switchbacks in the winding road up to the top of Mt. Evans outside the town of Idaho Springs. I stayed for 6 days and accompanied my friends Weldon Lee and Lori Huff of www.rockymountainphotoadventures.com They were doing one his workshops to MT. Evans which is just above the tree stump and arm on the right. Its approximately 18 miles away.

BTW, if you like a bit of humor of the things that have happened to me over the years on some of my photo adventures, try reading some of the stories in my Blog. I've just added the last two adventures that happened many years ago. Just waiting for the next humorous adventure to arrive.
I'm sure there must have been a couple of events that happened out of the ordinarily while some other photo adventures, but trying to remember back. 15 years now is a real task. But when I do I will write them up and post to my Blog.

This was one of the major stops, well all of them were major, on my Western Swing Photography Adventures. The first stop was for a week at Mt. Evans for the white mountain goats. There was more wildlife of course but these guys was on the top of the list. I had positioned my self at ground lever to photograph this kid's mom as I wanted blue sky behind mom. After getting a few images of her the kid that I looked a bit strange from all of the other tall persons that visit here and decided he needed a closer look.

This photo was made by one of Weldon Lee, www.rockymountainphotoadventures. workshop participants.

I was accompanying my good friend Weldon and his people of this workshop on Mt. Evans in Colorado. There were plenty of photo opts of Mountain Goats, and some of them were very curious to say the least.
