Valley of Fire, Nevada at night under bright moonlight, about an hour after sunset. Near East entrance.
As I was sitting here in the dusk, four horseback riders rode from behind the rocks, passed about 100 feet from me and didn't notice me in the dark. Felt like a Western movie!

The Vista House was built in 1918 and is located about 20 miles east of Portland, Oregon along the Historic Columbia River Highway. It sits on a basalt cliff 700 feet overlooking the Columbia River Gorge.

Windmill and starry sky west of the town of Condon, population 650, on the road to Lonerock in Gilliam County, Oregon.
Ripe wheat fields extend to the East and West, but a small clearing directly behind the windmill holds a single, well-tended grave, decorated with pinwheels and flowers. Alongside the gravestone is a garden bench facing West.
I had driven by this spot on a road trip several weeks ago, and made the 2.5 hour trip again last weekend to take this photo, my first attempt at shooting the Milky Way.
