A male Ruffed Grouse performs his unique drumming display as early morning light illuminates the understory of an aspen copse in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley.
The forceful, sweeping motion of his wings creates miniature sonic booms, resulting in a far-carrying sound, quintessential of early spring the Canadian woods.
