Just spent twenty minutes noodling around with an armless version of the MgN-309 for anti-aircraft work. need a bit more fiddling, but reasonably pleased with the result.

In Mechaton terms, this would have:

1 artillery attachment (the heavy missiles)
1 direct fire attachment (the flak gun)
1 spotting attachment (all the radars and scanners and stuff)
1 defensive attachment (generalised beefiness)

Just another version of the MgN-333. This time, with thrusters. Gosh.

Rear view here.

Breakdown (minus thrusters) here.

Just fiddling around with a Cold War-esque mecha. Started out as being for Mobile Frame Zero, but it is a little too large (in my view, others might not think so.) Still in 7-plate scale, though. Based loosely on the skeleton of this.

The L27 mobile anti-tank gun was introduced into British service in 1959, primarily to provide rapid anti-tank capability against Soviet forces attacking through the Fulda Gap.

Armed with a slightly updated version of the WW2 era 6-pounder Molins Gun and a folding-fin version of the Malkara missile, the L27 was intended to replace towed AT guns operated by the Royal Artillery.

Although it never saw combat use in its intended environment, the vehicle was used in the Konfrontasi in Malaysia/Indonesia and during the Aden Emergency. In both cases, it was manifestly unsuited to the environments it was asked to work in. Some Australian units in Malaysia achieved slight success in replacing the 6-pounder gun with jury rigged cannon from disabled combat aircraft (most frequently the quad 30mm ADEN gun pack from crashed Hawker Hunters.)

Heavily upgraded in the 1970s, the unit received an improved sensor package (the valve technology sensor turret of the 1950s was rugged but bulky), the obsolete Malkaras were replaced with Swingfire missiles, and a Martin-Baker 0 0 ejection seat for the pilot was added. The last L27 squadron was disbanded shortly after the end of the 1990-91 Gulf War.

A couple of junky looking, cobbled together, scrappy frames built in a garage somewhere. Intended to have a home-built, somewhat ramshackle aesthetic.

I hastily put them together for a demo, based on the rather excellent Gunbuddy frame.

And yes, I really, really do need to build a bigger lightbox once we've moved house.

Designed for orbital operations, the 'Blue Stone' MgNs had superior long-range communications capabilities, an upgraded ECM/EW suite, and superior maneuverability. They were, however, lost in large numbers during the Tet-17 operation when confronted with Krill cluster-swarming inhibitors.

The example shown here belonged to the 4th Company of the 30th Composite Brigade, attached to the heavy cruiser 'Fortunate Cloud.'

It's blue. Very blue. Still working on getting lightbox photography right.
