The small unique community of Hyder, Alaska is a trip into the past. This is the place where you can get "hyderized" at the Glacier Inn bar on the main roadway above from a mysterious liquid from an unlabelled bottle that is poured into a shot glass. The 150 proof alcohol tastes like a vile mix of kerosine and tequila that rapidly travels to your brain. It is highly flammable. You are not allowed to sniff it, swish it around your mouth, and it must be swallowed in one gulp to obtain a certificate that you have been hyderized. One should never drink this again or risk an early dementia. I passed the test and proudly obtained my certificate.

Another item off my bucket list.
