...and shallow depth of field. This indoor activity results from cavorting Saturday with our dog and stumbling into a sort of gully hidden by snow. Now my old L5/S1 injury craves a hot pad and analgesics once again.

But I can photograph standing up using my standing desk for just such occasions. Indoors.

Nikon D810, Nikkor 105mm f/2.8
1/5 sec; f/6.3; ISO 64
manual exposure, manual focus, tripod, modeling lights

Thank you for looking and commenting.

"What fuels you? What gives you strength? What makes things in your life work? It’s a literal, but also a philosophical question. This week for Flickr Friday! we want to see your photographic interpretation of ‘Power’. "

This is my ongoing series in showing what energizes me: a walk in forests with my husband, or alone. In nature. With camera.

Lucky to catch two bees of unknown variety to me. On perhaps a gaillardia flower. A friend had plants she called Arizona Apricot or Arizona Sun. Certainly attracted bees. Must research bees next.

(As shot, except for crop. I generally only de-saturate.)

At 1° F / -17° C, the first hint of sunlight highlighted hoarfrost everywhere. Light flakes of frost fell through light from our trees. A proper wakeup for me, at least, from mourning the world's tragedies this past weekend.

Nikon D810, Nikkor 105mm f/f2.8
1/160 sec; f/3.2; ISO 64
manual exposure, manual focus, monopod
Slight crop only from RAW/nef

(Wikipedia states that hoarfrost crystals: "form on cold, clear nights when conditions are such that heat radiates out to the open sky faster than it can be replaced from nearby sources such as wind or warm objects." What of the noisy chickadees and nuthatches this morning? How do they manage?)

Hurrah, it is Monday here, finally. I can enter the Macro Mondays theme with this morning's "the space between two things'— thin string between the "yo's" of an old yoyo.

For Macro Monday, for "the space in between" theme.

Nikon D810, Nikkor 105mm f/2.8
1/10 sec; f/5.0; ISO 20
manual exposure, manual focus, tripod

"The material came bubbling up inside like a geyser or an oil gusher. It streamed up of its own accord, down my arm and out of my fountain pen in a torrent of six thousand words a day."
C. S. Forester, b: Cairo, 1899, d: 1966, California

Forester's most notable works were the 12-book Horatio Hornblower series, depicting a Royal Navy officer during the Napoleonic wars, and The African Queen (1935; filmed in 1951 by John Huston). His novels, A Ship of the Line and Flying Colours, were jointly awarded the 1938 James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction.

I borrowed a few of my spouse's well-tended — and well used —fountain pens to photograph.

Nikon D700, Nikkor 105mm f/2.8, 1/40 sec; f/5.6; ISO 200, manual exposure, tripod, softbox light

Thanks for looking and for such kind comments.
