The Jama Masjid of Delhi, is one of the largest mosques in India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 and 1656 at a cost of 1 million rupees. The mosque was completed in 1656 AD with three great gates, four towers and two 40 m high minarets constructed of strips of red sandstone and white marble.

Fatehpur Sikri is a city in the Agra District of Uttar Pradesh, India. The city was founded in 1569 by the Emperor, Akbar, and served as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 to 1585.

However due to a lack of a local water supply the city fell into decline and is a fascinating deserted ruin to explore today. I came across this woman carrying water within the ruins which struct me as ironic.

Ganesh Pol is in the south side of the courtyard of the palace in the Amber Fort. Ganesh Pol, or the Ganesh Gate, is named after the Hindu god Lord Ganesh. Above this gate is the Suhag Mandir where ladies of the royal family used to watch functions held in the Diwan-i-Am through latticed windows

Below the fort at Kuchaman there is a thriving town which has a street market. You can encounter some very interesting characters just by walking through the streets for an afternoon.
