The North Barrule ridge line catches the first rays of light on a cold morning on the southern slopes of Clagh Ouyr. I’m a massive fan of snow as I love the power it has to transform Isle of Man landscapes entirely, giving them a wintery atmosphere, which feels quite alien to these mild shores. Sadly snow is becoming increasingly rare here and even in the 13 years I’ve been doing photography, I’ve noticed a marked difference in the frequency, quality and altitude level at which snow falls. I fear images like this one will become increasingly difficult to capture and there could eventually be a whole generation of young photographers who never get to experience these conditions. Hopefully I’m wrong but in the meantime I’m keeping my fingers crossed for some more wintery weather before Spring arrives ❄️
