Bridie & Patrick Smith on their honeymoon in 1956 in Killarney, Co. Kerry.
Due to its scenic beauty, initial popularity with the Anglo Irish gentry in the 18th/19th century, and the establishment of railway links nationwide, Killarney was one of Ireland's premier holiday destinations during much of the 20th century. Up to the 1960s it was one of the major destinations for honey couple.
Paddy and Bridie were my parents (Brendan Smith).
Both were great horse riders which was common for those from farming backgrounds up until the late 1950s.

Photo taken on the honeymoon of my parents on a boat on Lough Leane in Killarney during the summer of 1956.
My parents were Bridie (neé Agnew) and Paddy Smith, who moved from my mother's parents' home/grocers shop at Fitzroy Avenue Drumcondra Dublin city to a grocer's business on Macken Street, Dublin.
