Scoil Náisiúnta Tí Dachonna was located in the townland of Tiaquin, 2 miles (3.2 km) southeast of Monivea in the parish of Athenry in County Galway.
The name 'Tiaquin' comes from the Irish 'Tigh Dachoine' which translates as "The House of St. Dachonna’s". The townland comprises 427 acres.
The school opened on April 6th 1926.
Des Rohan wrote in the Athenry Journal in Spring 1997:
"...The structure (of the school) itself was designed to conform to the department of Education's own guidelines for rural schools of the time. The two classrooms were separated by a folding partition. Each room had an open fireplace. The ceiling was high; the windows were large. The frontal facade housed the cloakrooms. In the playground boys and girls were segregated by a high concrete wall, which extended to the toilets at the rear...".
The school closed in 1977.
