Tonight on the Winter Solstice the planets Jupiter and Saturn came into conjunction and looked like one huge star to the naked eye. Some have theorized that this conjunction many years ago may have been the Christmas Star that the three Wise Men followed to Bethlehem. Through a zoom camera lens or a telescope you could see that the two lights were distinct. This event has not been seen for 800 years and will not be seen again until after I have passed from this earth. We were joined at our local park by a large crowd of other sky watchers: families, friends, older people, couples. There was such a great energy with everyone out watching Mother Nature's display of cosmic glory. Posted in response to this week's Crazy Tuesday theme prompt: "Festive." (As with all my work, constructive critique is welcome, and faves are appreciated.)
