Our tour guide used Airbnb to rent an apartment for us in Havana. This is the doorway to the little balcony off the dining room. Although it wasn't very big, it was fun to stand out there and enjoy watching all the activity in the street. The open doors and windows in the apartment also let in a lovely cross breeze, which -- along with the ceiling fans -- cooled the apartment beautifully. As you will see in one of the next pictures I plan to post, the kitchen was too tiny to include the fridge, although it was certainly more than sufficient for our needs as travelers. In this picture you can see why the refrigerator is out in the dining room. Our tour guide -- who used Airbnb to rent this apartment for us in Havana -- says these apartments are popular with Cubans who come into the countryside to go shopping. The apartment was right in the middle of a big shopping district, and the shoppers don't need a big kitchen any more than we tourists do.
