Our tour guide hired this classic car to transport us to the apartment where we would be staying for the first couple days of our journey. Because of the U.S. embargo and the fall of the Soviet Union, which had been financially sustaining the country, the Cuban people have restored so many fabulous classic cars. Although I'm not necessarily a classic car fan, I have to say these old vehicles were a lot of fun. (As with all my work, constructive critique is welcome, and faves are appreciated.)

Although I'm not a classic car buff, it was awfully fun to see and ride in these beautiful vehicles. The reason they are so common in Cuba, I'm told, is that after the U.S. embargo in 1959, only wealthier people could afford newer cars such as the Lada. According to one source I found, "The cars are often family heirlooms, passed down from generation to generation." (As with all my work, constructive critique is welcome, and faves are appreciated.)
