Four of us picked more than 400 pounds of apples this morning to donate to food pantries. My daughter and I got to take two big boxes to a kitchen serving two meals a day to more than a hundred homeless people.
Many apples on the trees baked in the sun during the heatwave and drought this summer. But many of the apples that fell in the shade under the tree were still good.
