Prior to the pandemic, I celebrated a birthday by taking a solo hike at a state park near us and discovered a trail on the bluffs high above the Missouri River. Because it was summertime, all the leaves on the trees obscured the view. Back home I told my husband that I wanted to go back and take him to see the view when the trees are bare. And because last weekend was unseasonably warm, we decided to finally take that journey. The views were, indeed, magnificent.
