The pines in summer - A superbly still and calm day dawns on Buttermere producing near mirror perfect reflections of the pines in summer, overlooked by Fleetwith Pike and Haystacks.
The iconic row of scots pines, or sentinels as they are often named, are situated at the southern end of the lake and really come alive when first lit by the early morning light in summer. The verdant greens of the pines at this time of year stand in stark contrast to the backdrop of the deep shadow of Fleetwith Pike cast along Warnscale Bottom; this makes for added drama and beauty of this truly classic Lakeland scene.
Buttermere, and this scene, is one of my favourite locations in the beautiful Lake District and is hard to beat when conditions are as serene and as perfect as this. Looking forward to be able to return sometime soon.
Stay safe everyone.
