Der Laacher See befindet sich in der Vulkaneifel nahe der Abtei Maria Laach. Dieser Calderasee ist der größte See in Rheinland-Pfalz. Er gehört wie die Abtei Maria Laach zur Ortsgemeinde Glees. Der Laacher Vulkan brach zuletzt etwa 10930 v. Chr. aus. Vulkanische Tätigkeit findet sich noch heute in Form von Ausgasungen.

The Laacher See is located in the Vulkaneifel near the Abbey of Maria Laach. This Calderasee is the largest lake in Rhineland-Palatinate. Like the Abbey of Maria Laach, it belongs to the local municipality of Glees. The Laacher volcano last broke out about 10930 BC . Volcanic activity is still found today in the form of outgassing.
