One of the parents came in with what might be a corn snake and passed it to one of the two juveniles shown here landing at the dining hall. It had no problem gobbling down this small snake in just a few minutes. I was under the mistaken belief that Caracaras primarily fed on road kill. Although there was a fair amount of innards that came in, and one flattened frog, it seemed that most of the nourishment was hunted and not scavenged. Between what I and my friends saw included snake, turtle, frog, duckling, and rabbit. Quite an assortment. (Caracara plancus). (Sony a1ii, 400mm lens, 1/2000 second, f/2.8, ISO 1600)
If anyone can identify this snake, it would be appreciated.
