A-4E Skyhawk photographed at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, McMinnville Oregon.
This A-4E is painted in the markings of BuNo 149996. On July 29, 1967, a Zuni rocket was accidentally fired aboard the USS Forrestal (CV-59) operating in the Gulf of Tonkin. The rocket struck A-4E 149996, occupied by then LCDR John S. McCain, who escaped. The fires and explosions that followed killed 143 sailors, injured 161 and destroyed 21 aircraft.

This F-14D, BuNo 164343, was among the last Tomcats in US Navy service. Assigned to Carrier Air Wing Eight, it participated in the US Navy's final F-14 deployment aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt in 2006.
This aircraft is now on display at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, where I photographed it in August 2011.
