My family lived in Bremerton, Washington from 1969 to 1972 while my father was stationed at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

My brother Bill and a group of his classmates constructed this model of the Eiffel Tower using thousands of toothpicks. I believe that this was taken during Bill's ninth grade year (1970-1971) at Central Kitsap Junior High School in Bremerton.

This picture was made using a Kodak Instamatic 44 camera and "126" film cartridges.

My family lived in Bremerton, Washington from 1969 to 1972 while my father was stationed at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

This picture of my brother Bill was probably taken during the last year that we lived in Bremerton, when he was in the tenth grade at Central Kitsap High School.

My family lived in Bremerton, Washington from 1969 to 1972 while my father was stationed at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

Here is my brother Bill, right, with his friend Jeff. They're standing on the deck that extended from the east end of the second floor of our home.

This picture was made using a Kodak Instamatic 44 camera and "126" film cartridges.

Dad took this picture of my brother Bill with me in my bedroom, 1979. The old Nut Tree in Vacaville used to sell those beautiful black-and-white aviation posters, and I remember building each of the model airplanes hanging from the ceiling.

Two of my "all-time favorite" aircraft are represented in my model collection. The Monogram 1/48-scale C-47 in the far corner of the room was one of the largest kits I ever built, and I was proud of it. The Revell 1/32-scale F4F-4 Wildcat is here, too, barely visible in the upper left corner of the frame. My brother helped me discover the book "Incredible Victory" by Walter Lord when I was about 12 years old, and my fascination with the Wildcat probably started there.
