Cessna 172 N65922 parked at Nut Tree Airport (KVCB), Vacaville, California. My friend Alan was the pilot on this day in August 1983, when we flew between San Jose and Vacaville. We had lunch at the old Nut Tree restaurant, and I took aerial photographs using both conventional slide film and Kodak Infrared Ektachrome that day.

A picture of me with the bikes and the plane at Lake Tahoe Airport. I still have the 1984 Maruishi mountain bike that's next to me.

Mitch with the bikes at the Lake Tahoe Airport. We're about to take them apart and pack them into the airplane for the flight home to San Jose.

This Grumman Albatross was originally delivered to the US Air Force as an SA-16A (c/n G-173, USAF s/n 51-5291). While in USAF service it was brought up to SA-16B standard and eventually redesigned HU-16B.*

Eventually sold as surplus, it was registered as N291TC and refurbished for civilian leisure operation. One of its most notable features is the use of the underwing hard points and streamlined covers to allow carriage of two personal watercraft. After the airplane lands in water, these watercraft can be lowered and used for fun and local transportation.

As of February 2015, this aircraft still appears to be registered as N291TC.

Photographed at Tucson International Airport (KTUS),
May 1996.

(Scanned color film negative)
