Ron Smith, one of the history teachers from Castillero Junior High School who conducted a trip to Washington, D.C. at the end of my eighth grade year.

I took this picture of Mr. Smith while we were aboard a TWA L-1011 aircraft flying between Dulles International Airport (IAD) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

I took this picture using the second 35mm camera I ever had, a Leica IIIf with a 50mm f2 Summitar lens.

The majority of the area within the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is underwater. The State Marine Reserve portion is home to sea otters, seals, and a wide variety of fish and invertebrates.

"Bird Rock" is visible in the distance on the right, covered in a layer of guano from seabirds that live and breed in the area.

Photographed May 1987.

Although access is sometimes closed, a short but steep trail usually provides access to the beach at China Cove, a unique inlet within the boundaries of Point Lobos.

Masses of kelp are visible in this picture, taken in May 1987.
