A black bear, with ear tag "97," photographed near the Valley Loop Trail in Yosemite National Park.
We kept quiet and maintained a respectful distance from this bear. In return, we were rewarded by a good, long look at a black bear behaving naturally.
In recent years, better management of humans and their activities in the valley have resulted in the valley's black bears returning to the most natural diet they've had in about 100 years. For more, see:

On April 12, 1973, a U.S. Navy P-3C patrol aircraft and a Convair 990 operated by NASA collided while on final approach to Naval Air Station Moffett Field. Sixteen of the seventeen people aboard the two aircraft were killed.

Several Piasecki H-21 "Workhorse" or "Shawnee" helicopters. The nearest helicopter appears to be former USAF CH-21B 53-4328.
