This Darter was drying its feathers and dozed off every once in a while, with his head on his back as a pillow. It was way too dark to shoot this picture. I set the camera to shutter preference of 1/50sec and hoped for the best. Kind of like the drama of the outcome... Although I must admit, it looks better seen large. (at least you can see then what it actually is.. :-))
Have a lovely weekend everyone! (with lots of light and sun!)

Yesterday I went through my old external hard disk to look for a specific picture and got lost in the all the lovely memories. (and of course I didn't find the one I was looking for.. :-)
I came across this shot of a lady Puffin shot last year at the Latrabjarg cliffs in Iceland. Underneath the ”Warm Welcome”-shot I explained already that when we arrived there, all the male Puffins were at sea, fishing, while the females stayed at the nests. By finding this shot, I was touched again by the way she seems to eagerly watch the horizon awaiting his return..

I'm still enjoying the roe deer in the wildflower field almost every night. Got literally 1000s of pictures of them, beautifully posing between the flowers. But every once in a while, the bucks get really excited because the rutting season is right around the corner. And it does become more interesting when it's not only a beautiful pose, but something is really happening.
This one got a glimpse of a rival in the adjoining field and decided to go for it. A racing roe deer buck with dozens of flowers surrounding it, makes for the ultimate challenge for the autofocus. And I've got só many shots to prove it..
I couldn't have been more thrilled when he took a gigantic jump right over the flowers to get to his opponent quickly, just airborne long enough for the autofocus to pick up.
Happy!!
