Often enough when I'm in a safari vehicle, the guide will ask the guests what they would like to see the most. A lot of people immediately say 'leopard' or at least one (or all) of the big cats, but the answer I heard the most was a very enthusiastic "a kill!!". Until they see one.........
While in Masaai Mara, we saw no less than 5 kills made by a wonderful cheetah mother who had one baby to feed. She was so skilled that she hardly ever missed which is quite exceptional for cheetahs. And although seeing the actual kill sends the adrenaline flying sky high, in reality I still find it a hard thing to watch (and hear!). It helps when I can hide behind my camera, which makes it a bit more .. impersonal, if you will. The actual photographing of the incredibly fast action in tall grass is.. a challenge.. to say the least :-)
