A male black grouse (Lyrurus tetrix) in one of the few minutes with great morning light this morning.

When I got the chance to meet these beautiful black grouses for the first time and watch their lek, I just had to take it. So last night I went out in the wild, with a sleeping bag, a backpack filled with wool, and the little 70-200mm on my camera. Luckily, it wasn't too far to walk, since my body isn't quite into that at the time.

I had 6 males making a lot of noise outside the tent during twilight last night. I had taken down the camera to go to sleep, but was quick to get it back up silently, to photograph and film them posing and fighting.

Today 5 of them woke me up at 4:48 (after a cold night), and I photographed and filmed them for 3.5 hours. They posed both right in front of me and in the trees, and they were fighting a lot. A wonderful experience!

Gelegentliche Besucher in Island.
Leider sind diese grössten Raubtiere dem Menschen sehr gefährlich.
Als am 13.Juni 2008 gleich zwei Eisbären in Nordisland an Land gingen und bei einer Farm im Kartoffelgarten von einem Kind gesichtet wurde, musste man handeln. (leider)

Das Kaldidalur (isl. kaltes Tal) ist ein Tal im westlichen Isländischen Hochland, eine Geröllwüste, die nur für 4x4 Fahrzeuge zugelassen ist.
(Im Radio wurde an diesem Tag berichtet, das 2 Eisbären in Nordisland an Land gegangen waren.)

Kaldidalur er dalur sem liggur frá Reyðarvatni innan Lundarreykjadals, milli Langjökuls og Oks til efstu bæja í Hálsasveit, innan við Húsafell, og síðan má halda áfram um Stórasand til Norðurlands.
