Female Belted Kingfisher (Megaceryle halcyon), possibly a juvenile, perched on the edge of a small marine pool at low tide in the port city of Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.
The bird was quite skittish so this is a large crop. This was my first opportunity to photograph this species and it actually cooperated long enough to get a few images !!!
