Mountain Lion (Puma concolor) or cougar perched at the edge of the wooded shoreline entrance to Glendale Cove on the mainland of British Columbia's Knight Inlet. The cougar was viewed while on a guided boat tour (Tide Rip Grizzly Adventures out of Telegraph Cove) to see grizzly bears in a natural reserve on the pacific coast. Telegraph Cove is located on the northeast shore of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Mountain Lion (Puma concolor) or cougar perched at the edge of the wooded shoreline entrance to Glendale Cove on the mainland of British Columbia's Knight Inlet. We observed this animal for several minutes as we drifted closer with the current/tide. Our guide indicated this was his first sighting of a cougar in the 11+ years he has been working these tours.

It was my first cougar and those several minutes were absolutely unbelievable, and these images will constantly remind me of my good fortune!!

Mountain Lion (Puma concolor) stares at us in the tour boat as we stare at it, and take in the majestic beauty and grandeur of this wild and elusive animal.

After all my career working with wildlife and the remote country in which I worked, this was my first encounter and sighting of a "cougar or mountain lion" and the thrill was totally unbelievable and unforgetable.

I therefore decided that this image would be the 1000th image I posted on Flickr and a milestone for me.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed being there and taking this image.

The Mountain Lion was encountered enroute to Glendale Cove while on a guided boat tour (Tide Rip Grizzly Adventures out of Telegraph Cove), to see grizzly bears in a nature reserve on the pacific coast. Telegraph Cove is located on the northeast shore of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
