Image taken at sunset from the shore of Reynisfjara black sand beach, overlooking Dyrholaey, a small peninsula or promontory. It's name means "the door hole island".
The peninsula is named for the massive stone arch that the sea has eroded from the headland.
A lighthouse resides on top of the promontory.

Thank you for your comments,
Gemma

So nice to be back with all my Flickr FRIENDS!

Watson Lake is one of two reservoirs at the Granite Dells, outside of Prescott, Arizona, that was formed in the early 1900s when Chino Valley Irrigation District built a dam on Granite Creek.
The City of Prescott bought the reservoir and surrounding land in 1997 to preserve it as recreational land.
This image was taken as the sun was setting.

This year 2021, the Monsoon season, which began June 15 and ended September 30, has surpassed rain totals for the previous two seasons combined.

I dedicate this photograph to Giancarlo Lamberti.

Thank you for your comments.

This impressive comet is making a once-in-our-life-time close approach to Earth. It will speed away back to the outer parts of the solar system by mid-August.
While I was taking this picture, the comet was well above the horizon, in a magnificent display at sunset.

Orion, by John White

My favorite constellation is Orion.
I like it first and foremost
because on a cold clear winter night
it is easy to find in the sky.

On a very special night,
far from the cities and stress
you can actually see the Great Orion Nebula
a cloud of interstellar gases where stars are actually born.

With each thought we share,
each story, picture and sound,
we see a little more of each other.
I'm certain if we keep looking,
on a very special night,
far from our daily lives,
we will discover the universe together.

Granite Basin Lake is a reservoir located in the Prescott National Forest, in Yavapai County, North Central Arizona.
Nestled among pines and boulders of Prescott's Granite Mountain, it offers a variety of recreational opportunities year-round including hiking, backpacking, horse riding, non-motorized boating, fishing, camping and picnicking.

Luciano, questa immagine la dedico a te ed alla cara Mariella.
Un caro abbraccio, Gemma

I dedicate this image to my brother Luciano who lives in La Spezia, Italy and his wife, Mariella.
