The Tower of Saint Vincent is another very important fortification in Lisbon Portugal, situated in the banks of the Tagus river. It served as a fortress but also a ceremonial getaway. Built during the Portuguese renascence period, the 16th century, and now another UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Another very crowded place to visit, as you can see in the left of the photo, so the decision was made, we were going to enjoy it from outside, and it was as impressive I imagine. Maybe next time?

Click on the photo, see it a little better.

If you want to know a little or lot about this important place, I found something very interesting:

Something I like a lot about traveling :)

This was my first experience inside a palace, and it was an incredible one.

Situated in Sintra, and one of the seven wonders of Portugal is now classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1995.

To get there was really an adventure, the bus that took us to the top of the hill where the palace lays on had to ride on a very stretch road and we were able to see the bottom very easily. From time to time we had to share the road with people coming down from the hill, and I will never forget the feeling... It was rainy day, but the place was totally full and people were also waiting at bus stop for the next ride to come. I think this will be one of the very few photos I was able to take without people in it.

If you want to know more about the history of this palace, here is a very interesting link:

Have a great weekend everyone!

Among the wonderful antiques and beautiful designs of the National Palace of Sintra, Portugal I enjoyed looking at this fantastic tapestry. The palace also called " Palacio da vila " (town palace) it functions now as a museum, and also designated by Unesco as a World Heritage Site.

If you are interested, here is something more about this enchanting place:
