We crossed off one of our bucket list hikes today. We made it to Rend Lake, which is the last of the Seven Wonders of Illinois that we've been to visit with Bunny. It was easy to see why it was voted one of the seven wonders. It's gorgeous there. Crossing this hike off our list of things to do just means that we'll start a new list! Hiking is one of our favorite things to do together.

Today was the last day of National Walk Your Dog Week, and the girls and I, along with my husband who has been sulking about being left out of some of our adventures, went to walk in one of our favorite places, Constitution Trail. We've had fun with our commitment to walk in a different place every day for the past week. One thing that I really value is our walking time, and it's a bit of a sacred event around here. We try to avoid being on the cell phones and just unplug from the world for that time while we're out walking. I think it's made for a better bond with the dogs, and it gives us time to talk without distraction. It's also made us all healthier and happier.

I don't know about where you live, but here, it is cold and snowy! School is already cancelled for tomorrow thanks to the dangerous wind chill. The dogs are not thrilled and while Bunny likes the cooler weather, she says that this is ridiculous. So, she has a mixture of animal print beds and a blanket here to help her keep warm. And I don't think she's moving anytime soon!
