This was taken on my first evening on arriving in Castlemartin for a weeks break in Pembrokeshire. I walked down to the beach at Freshwater West after dinner and with the tide around mid way, I found some nice rock channels that sort of aligned with the setting sun.

I tried quite a few different shots using various shutter speeds and filters. Having got back home and had a chance to look at them in detail, I quite liked this portrait shot, even though it was shot at f22. I was hoping to get a bit of a sunburst effect, but with the sun diffused by the clouds somewhat it didn't happen. The rays from those clouds though did provide some drama in the sky.

I loved the golden glow on the rock, which was certainly a little crisper in the f11 frames but the golden glow was not as intense so I've gone with this frame.

The holiday cottage I'm staying in in Castlemartin has a lovely framed photograph of Barafundle Bay at sunrise. The picture inspired me to try and match it, (or better it), during my stay here. So far we have had some nice sunsets, but the dawns have been poor. However, the forecast this morning was favourable, so I left the Cottage just before 5 am to set off for nearby Barafundle.

I parked at Stackpole Quay and made my way over the clifftops. I couldn't resist this sunrise shot at Stackpole on my way. So here is another taster, quickly edited on my laptop. I'm saving the Barafundle Bay shot for when I get home and get to a bigger screen and all my software.

I hope to get one of my shots from down here framed and put on the lounge wall. Its been a great week thus far.

I was sat in the Holiday Cottage last night, with the grey skies and forecast showing little prospect of a sunset. Then 45 minutes before the time of sunset a little light started to show in the gloom. I decided to nip back out and see what developed and went to the Elegug Stacks and Green Bridge of Wales, which were less than 10 minutes away across the Castlemartin Ranges.

It was pretty blustery and grey, meaning I had the place to myself, but as the clouds finally started to break up and let some colour and light in, it was clear that all the drama was actually behind me and the epic clifftop seascape was only going to stay grey!

So I looked around the vast clifftop expanse and the only feature worthy of interest was the little Flimston Chapel I had passed on the track on the way in here. So with the light disappearing and clouds building again quickly, I dashed back to the church just in time to capture this before the sun was eclipsed again by the fast moving clouds.

The light was spectacular for a few moments as the clouds parted and the colours were amazing. Hoping to get some more decent shots around here during the rest of my stay. This Medieval Chapel sits within the MoD Castlemartin Firing Ranges and can only be accessed during periods of non firing.

This tiny 13th Century Chapel is tucked into a crevice in the Pembrokeshire Cliffs. There are 52 steps carved into the cliff which take you down into the side of this chapel. Just below the chapel is a well, also dedicated to St Govan and its waters were supposed to cure ailments to the eye.

A spectacular setting just above the sea at high tide and great for gloomy days like this for a black and white moody shot!

A lone photographer walks on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path as the sun falls at the end of another hot summers day.

This area is spectacular for coastal photography and I've already got quite a lot of images to process when I return home. This is just a taster processed quickly on my laptop. I'm saving the good stuff for when I get home and can see things on a big screen.
