The sun rises over the River Tay as it meanders its way to the sea from Perth. The Kinnoull Tower stands on the top of the cliff on the left overlooking the valley below. It was built by the Ninth Earl of Kinnoull in the early 19th Century. He wanted to emulate the towers of the Rhine Valley, which he thought this area of the Tay Valley around Perth resembled.

Well the morning after two days of storms saw me tramping along the cliffs of the Quiraing pre-dawn. Even though there was a complete absence of the sun at dawn, it is still such a stunning landscape.

I made a full traverse of these fabulous slopes and I will make a return visit at dawn again tomorrow and I have a shot in mind up by the Needle. I will try and make the most of the next few days here on Skye before we return to lockdown back home.

This was my first image taken just before the sun was due to rise. I stayed here in this little gully a while just to let a passing squall blow through before moving along the escarpment towards the Prison and take in the wider view of the Quiraing landscape.

One of the many waterfalls found on this stretch of Coire na Creiche that is more commonly known as "The Fairy Pools". The stunning backdrop of the Black Cuillin gives the area such mythical feel. The clouds hang over the slopes of Sgurr an Fheadain behind the falls. I spent a wonderful morning here in between the showers and came away with quite number of decent images.

The water is so clear and has a deep greenish look. I used a circular polariser to cut through the glare and try to show the nature of this magical place.

I was the only foolhardy soul to make the dark gloomy ascent up to the Old Man of Storr on the dawn of the 5th of November. Visibility before dawn was poor with low cloud shrouding the escarpment. I ploughed on as it was my last morning in Skye and I had turned back in miserable weather the morning previously. I knew I had walked past the Old Man even though I couldn't see it and I sat at this spot for over an hour just hoping things would improve.

I was drinking some hot tea from a flask when suddenly things started to clear and golden light started to come through the mist and cloud. I quickly set up in the strong winds and this scene unfolded!

You can also see the Cuillin Mountains on the horizon above Loch Leathan as the golden light illuminates the mist over the Sound of Raasay. Things stayed similar for the next hour or so with the clouds and mist rolling in and out. I wandered all round taking shots of this magical location!! It just goes to show patience and perseverance, plus a little luck sometimes pays off!

I was treated to a spectacular sunset here at Neist Point on Skye. It was very windy up on the cliff top though and keeping the camera steady was a real challenge. Sunsets in November do present a challenge as the setting sun does not illuminate the cliffs in the same way as the sunset does in summer. That said it is still spectacular place to be for sunset. There was some weather drama out over the Outer Hebrides as you can see with it raining over on Uist under that herculean cloud!

I managed to time this shot with the Lighthouse beam gleaming towards me!

So a day that started with dawn up on the Quiraing ended here with this scene, Skye is just great for landscape photography! Although it looks like it will be quite a while until I return!
