Just back from a pleasant ramble up the nearby River Brock valley. The bluebells are about a week of their peak here and there is also the odd clump of Wild Garlic starting too appear.

I stopped here for about an hour just watching the light change and the abundant wildlife making the walk so worthwhile. I caught this image as the dappled sunlight broke over the top of the valley sides.

Whilst taking some bluebell shots in the local woods, I had a double take at this scene! This log triggered my inbuilt "fight or flight" alert system for a nano second. It certainly looked like some reptilian crocodile emerging from the depths.

The more I looked at it the more the logs form and texture seemed to resemble a crocodile. So for a bit of humourous interest I thought I would post it. There has been absolutely no manipulation of the image, this was exactly how this old tree appeared. So if " you go down to the woods today...." as they say!

Another vibrant Spring image taken in the local woods. I suppose the mild wet weather has resulted in a blessing for some woodland species, whilst it has been a bit of a disaster for much of the Country's farmland.

I liked the way the tree roots seemed to be embracing the bluebells and the emerging Fern.

Well, the bluebells have appeared early in the woods near our house. I nipped out last night as the sun was going down and took a few shots.

There are quite few nice wooded areas with bluebells locally, but most of the woods have lots of fallen trees and branches littering the floor as a consequence of the succession of winter storms in the last couple of years.

I think the weather worldwide has become less predictable and the cycle of defined seasons seems to be blurred these days.

A shot of part of the long track up from Rhosydd to the old mine workings of Cwmorthin. The track here has slate slabs as fencing, a product in ample supply as the hardy miners made there way up and down from the mines! The pine trees made a nice focal point by the ruins of Rhosydd Chapel.

I also thought the mono treatment brought out the nature of this landscape which saw the massive loss of workers engaged in the extraction of slate, giving Cwmorthin the unenviable name of the "slaughter house"! You can make out the continuation of the track as it appear as a strong diagonal on the side of the mountain in the distance, making its way up to the deserted workings of the old mines.
