A view of Simon’s Seat from below the Trig Point. The heather is not yet in full bloom, but the golden light on the Bilberry created a nice foreground with the spectacular rays of sunlight illuminating the Wharfedale meadows in the valley below.

Why, well its the first image I have taken on my new kit! Not a great shot by any means, it was a snatched hand held shot whilst travelling down to Monmouthshire for a couple of days of golf! I stopped at Symonds Yat Rock and took this in less than ideal conditions. I finally decided to go mirrorless and trade in all my DSLR gear, before it loses its value completely.

It was tough choice but the new Z system and lenses are so much smaller, lighter and much more practical for my needs. It was like handing over children to a stranger though, I will miss the D850, which was a great camera. BUT I won't miss lugging the weight of the lenses around on my back!

Can't wait to get out next week with the Z7ii and the couple of lenses I have started with.

Last light on the Fylde Coast of Lancashire and an exceptionally low Spring tide.

This was the perfect opportunity to walk out on the exposed sands and explore the remains of the shipwrecked "Abana".

The "Abana" was a large 1,257 ton wooden "barque" vessel flying under a Norwegian flag. She was built in St John, New Brunswick, Canada and was sailing from Liverpool to Savannah, Georgia USA in December 1894 when she was caught in a storm in the Irish Sea. Hers sails were ripped to shreds in the strong winds and she drifted landwards. The ships crew mistook Blackpool Tower for a lighthouse and she eventually ran aground off Little Bispham.

The crew of 17 and the ships dog were all rescued by Blackpool's lifeboat. The ships bell and the dog were given to the landlord of the "Cleveleys Hotel" who had first raised the alarm and summonsed the lifeboat!

A familiar Dales scene to many a photographer! You just can't ignore this location at sunset if you are anywhere near! I made the dash from Malham when I saw that there was a chance of a bit of sunset light and I wasn't disappointed.

The limestone pavement here is pretty sparse, but in the right light it almost has a skeletal feel to it, creating a nice lead in to the famous tree.

A magnificent show of "wild garlic" had me unpacking the camera again on this walk! I just had to wait about 40 minutes for a little bit of light to break through! The countryside is in its "white" phase at the moment, with the Wild Garlic, Cow Parsley and Hawthorn Blossom all flowering at the moment!
