The extremely damp mild winter and spring has certainly helped the proliferation of moss. This was a scene on Dalton Crags with the Limestone and ancient trees succumbing to the spread of the verdant cushioning of moss.

Not having the greatest eye for woodland images, I thought that the shape of the reaching limbs of this tree looked worthy of a stop and shot as I made my way through the landscape.

Another shot from Hutton Roof. The exposed limestone pavement has quite a bit of vegetation growing after centuries of erosion and climate change.

I was taken by this pale tree growing in the centre of this bit of the limestone pavement on my previous visit here a week ago. I thought it was worth coming back on a misty day to capture an image of it. So as it was misty on my way up the M6 on this day, I returned. I had hoped to get up to this point whilst the mist was still quite thick, but it was rapidly clearing as I raced up the fell with my gear.

As you can see it had cleared substantially by the time I got set up here. However, I still think this captures the nature of this most unusual landscape and thought it was worthy of showing!

A wander around a misty gloomy Hutton Roof a few weeks ago and I came across this large limestone rock feature. It looked like an alien being, guarding the exit from the woods.

It was pretty misty again yesterday, so I went back with the camera and hoped to get a moody image. The mist sadly cleared by the time I reached this area, which is by a fabulous piece of exposed limestone pavement. It had me thinking it was a landing area for this species and he had been left behind!!

Just looked back at the few images I took on holiday in Mauritius back in February. That seems so long ago now, with this awfully wet spring weather we have endured since returning back home.

Whilst this shot does look idyllic, the weather patterns seem to be challenging all over the world. Whilst over in Mauritius we witnessed the effects of "cyclones" causing damage and spells of rain flooding parts of the island. So we are not alone in facing strange weather patterns.

That said, I'm certainly missing the light and warmth we enjoyed on that break. This was taken at sunset at the resort we were staying at and it has given me a lift just looking at it!

One of the last hand held shots I took as I made my way back to the car after an evening stroll along this stretch of Hadrians Wall.

There was some dusky pinks in the sky as the light started to go and the temperature dropped. It was eerily peaceful as I squelched along the sodden turf back down to the Military Road from here.

This higher ISO shot is taken from Hotbank Crags looking East over Cuddy 's Crags towards Housesteads and the distant Sewingshields Crags above the waters of Broomlee Lough.
