It's hard to describe the feeling of seeing a scene like this in front of you. The autumn foliage mixed with the clouds and fog created an amazing palette to work with for photography. This location is incredibly popular and for good reason. This composition is certainly not original, but it was a moment that will never happen again like this.......

This was completely unplanned.......30 minutes before this image was captured, I was 15 miles away and photographing something completely different. I kept looking over my shoulder to see what might be happening with the sky and light in the distance. I knew there was a chance for some color to show up in the sky at sunset, but the weather had been so crazy that there was certainly no guarantee of that. Two of us were shooing together and at the same time said...."We should go!!" We abandoned our compositions, jumped in the car and drove as fast as allowed to this spot. I grabbed my camera and tripod, found a very quick composition and the sky just ignited in front of me. The summits of a few peaks also caught some nice light. I think I giggled just a wee bit!!!!

"Last light over Sneffels"
On October 3 2021, the light just came blasting out of the clouds for a few moments of photographic delight over mount Sneffels and the hay field below. It was once again worth the hour long wait....... San Juan Mountains, Colorado.
