Warm dawn light spreading across the misty hills of West Dorset. 5D Mk2 with 24-105 lens at full reach and 2 stop ND Grad LEE filter sellotaped on the front; angled diagonally top left to bottom right to try and balance the exposure just after sunrise. Very little else done in PS except a few adjustments and sharpening.

Another shot of Colmer's Hill as it struggles to keep its head above the thick valley mists. The sun's about a minute away from creeping over the horizon on a glorious autumn morning.

Finally got down to Durdle Door briefly for sundown; not much colour in the sky but enough reflecting on the water to make it worthwhile. Surprised to see no-one else there; a rarity for such a location! Tide seemed to be pretty much full which may have put some off and it was interesting to look at the beach and note how it changes in terms of sand and pebble during the course of the year (mainly coarse sand right now.) Got the feet wet as usual with this shot, the customary 'seventh wave' always catches you out.

A foggy morning was forecast yesterday and duly arrived; thick mists swirling across large expanses of west Dorset. And where else to celebrate what felt like the first day of autumn than up Quarr Hill, taking in the always heartening view of Colmer's Hill and beyond. I was in good company too, with fellow flickrite Graham Wiffen already snapping away in the pre-dawn light and another Graham, from the Dorset Echo, also keen to capture the ever-changing landscape. All in all a cracking start to the day.

Winter waves batter the Cobb at Lyme Regis early this morning. I was hoping for something a bit calmer (and less constant wiping of my LEE Grad!) but the light was pretty good between the clouds. Converted and played with in PS. Met another early bird flickrite in Frank Leavesley (Frank L) down there and I'm sure he got some cracking shots!
