Barga is a small medieval uphill town in the Media Valley (mid valley) of the Serchio River 35 kilometers north of
Lucca.
The Collegiate Church of San Cristoforo (Dumo di Barga) was built in the local lime stone between the 11th and 16th centuries. It is the best example of Romanesque architecture in the Serchio Valley.
