We booked a private overnight desert camping trip with Arabian Adventures (part of Emirates) for three people. Our driver Hani collected us from our hotel and drove us out to the desert with a number of other vehicles. We did some “dune bashing” before breaking away from the others. We visited a camel farm where there was also a guy with a falcon before heading out to find a site to pitch our tents.

Hani dropped us off to watch the sun set while he checked out locations for us to camp in, as we stood high up on a sand dune and group of camels just wandered past (nobody with them), they seemed to know where they were going. Eventually Hani returned and he drove us to where we set up camp (putting up our tents etc) for the night. We cooked dinner and sat around the camp fire before climbing into our tents for the night. It was surprisingly windy and I can't we slept that well. We got up dawn and with a coffee in hand watched the sun rise over the desert.

We were then driven up into the mountains where we visited a goat farm in the most incredible oasis before returning back to the Dubai. It was a fantastic trip and worth getting out of your air-conditioned hotels for a night.

These camels just wandered past as at sunset.
