Coyote Valley
I was wishing this little sweetie was in a more photogenic spot than down on the ground in a patch of weeds, when he suddenly jumped up to the top of a fence post and started posing there, right next to the car, almost too close to shoot.
It was like "wait, what?! you need a better pose, a better perch, and some nice green grass bokeh?! Well OK, how is this?!!"

Aechmophorus occidentalis
I don't think that birding gets any better than this. I felt so very privileged to be there.

Our semi cooperative Lewis's is still around! I am SO going to miss him ( and the Varied Thrush).

Passerina amoena
Went bunting hunting today at JD Grant. Heard them singing almost as soon as we started walking from the parking lot. Took a bit more patience than that to see them in action, but eventually we had two males who seemed to be having a singing contest over a nearby female.
