UCSC Arboretum

We had business that took us to Santa Cruz yesterday, but had enough time for an hour at the arboretum. Have been anxious to get there since seeing reports that the Allen's are back. I could spend the whole day just watching the male Allen's display for the females, and fight with the Anna's.

San Lorenzo Park, Santa Cruz

77 degrees on 12/26 by the beach, and a female Hermit Warbler in the park. I really think I could get used to this retirement gig!

Natural Bridges in Santa Cruz

There is often a noisy contingent of these nuthatches in the Eucalyptus trees along Delaware Street, but they are usually pretty high in those trees. On this sunny morning there were a dozen or so foraging low in the trees and even a few on the ground.
