Zonotrichia albicollis....have tried so hard to find one in California, but they were everywhere in Central Park. I loved seeing every single one of them - such a strikingly beautiful bird. Lifer #392.

We got some nice looks at this male Hooded Warbler, but I only managed this poor id record shot. This guy posed about as much as a kinglet.

A big shout out hello to the many birding buddies that we made in Central Park last week!! Thank you for helping us find so many great birds! We added 14 lifers and broke the 400. This is lifer #393.

Melanerpes carolinus male, at the Ravine in Central Park. There were loads of these woodpeckers in the park and we really got to know their sound. I do not remember seeing one female of the bunch though, which makes me wonder if they were already brooding.
