OK, that is just the name I gave it because this is where we saw the owl flying at midday. Now imagine that the pueo is flying deep down in this canyon, and that your camera is set for 1/320 - not even close to where you would normally set up for a bird in flight - (maximum would be 1/800). That is why the owl shot is so lucky to not be total owl blur.

the "native" Hawaiian owl - such a special and endangered creature, and we feel so honored to have seen him (several times) and even catch a photo

this owl was seen deep in a canyon, at 11 am. the camera was set up for small native forest birds
(1/320) under the canopy and so it really was amazing that any of the shots of this distant flying bird were not just total ghost bird blur
